Captain Share looks good to me. I did find the max percentage for each player can receive is 15%, not 20% as stated above.
Results from the captain share on Black Pearl:
Code: [Select]
15% of Barbossa's doubloons were distributed which equals: 637643906162030980000000000000000000 (637.644D)
Each player received 2932012 (2.932M) doubloons
Total from 67 players = 637643906162030980000000000000000000 (637.644D)

Captain Bonus is working fine. It is a random percentage or 1k doubloons, whichever is greater. I doubled the percentage amount for non-Captain players (the Captain can bonus themselves)
So in your internal tool, it is stating that the total amount shared is actually distributed to the crew? Because in our testing this is very much not the case. In your example, if each person is getting 2.932m doubloons from 637.644D, that adds up to 196,444,804 for all 67 crew members combined... that is reduction of 10^7 value!

In our testing, this reduced value is more accurate, and it does not distribute the total amount.

Captain bonus is indeed working, as we are using that to distribute doubloons to the crew, its !P Captain Crew Bonus that is the one with the issue. If I do each person individually, they actually get the proper amount. But If I try doing multiple !P capn crew bonus, its nearly unnoticeable amounts compared to the stated value.

I would just much prefer the amount stated in the alert was the actual value distributed, not some fluffed up number that looks amazing. Or if the capn share stated the amount removed, and the amount gained by the crew. There is a disconnect between the values, and it feelsbadman.

Thank you so much for taking your time to look at it!

16:16:21 <%radar1213> [04:14:29] <%radar1213> drop in the bucket from 69.05T doubloons

So from what we can see here, he had not received any !P capn crew bonus yet from today, and after 69.05T doubloons is distributed, he gained 30b which seems extremely reduced.

If you are just dividing it by the crew
69 / 17 = 4.062t

Quote
Callous   -10% doubloons for all events where doubloons are earned

ok so then we have
4.062t * .9 = 3.656t

But how is it ending up at .03t?

There must me something dividing it by 100 to end up with 0.03655588235294117647058823529412

If I look at my own bonus for the day:

Code: [Select]
Capn.bonus: 18.2B
I do not have any difficulty added or anything, so that should not be messing with this, and I am still receiving a crew bonus that is significantly below the stated shared amount.

Capn Share and Capn Crew Bonus
The way you are using !P TOP to see the change in doubloons is not accurate. The most accurate way to track expenditures is !P TODAY DETAILS.
I have verified the code multiple times the past couple years. Just for you, I will check it again.

It sounds like you are speaking of not only the Zonbi Horde event, but other events....
There are 4 difficulties for the Zonbi Horde: very easy, easy, medium, and hard. I wonder which difficulty you encountered... The more crew a ship has and is participating, makes it easier to win all events as there are more players for the Zonbis to attack and not continuously focus on the few pirates who are participating.
Asking for all the methods to get stamina is a spoiler. :P
The stamina drain depends on RNG. Reviewing the Zonbi Horde code, the only instance of a player getting hit and losint 10 stamina is about 10%. I have reduced this to be a maximum of 5 stamina.

2 - Every event (monsters, termites, whales, gangsters, cultists, etc) is made to be a bit different and each one has at least one way to overcome them. A perfect example of this is gold skeletons are vulnerable to water. I created this event to have the shortest cooldowns with the problem for players to overcome, being the stamina limits. There are ways stamina can be restored other than the Ship's Store and your Flask. Another problem to overcome are the special Zonbis, which the crew of the Rising Sun figured out pretty quickly,
Spoiler (hover to show)

To speak on this a bit more, I mean that the monster attacks drain upwards of 10 stamina at a time, or even your entire stamina. Then each of your attacks is draining stamina, then you can also be stunned repeatedly as well. Doing the event with four people, we ran out of rewards for stam, the capn rest/rum is on cd, Inspirit is active and it ended up being only the people with multiple rewards saved up for stamina who could help finish the event. The stamina drain is coming from so many angles, and this is even after taking down the two special enemies...

What method are we missing to restore stamina? If the crew is on explore, we do not have access to refill flasks, and there is no tavern/brothel. The only option is the Capn CD for rest/rum or rewards for stamina, unless I am missing something obvious? At the end of the fight, all the drained crew could do is cheerleader from the sidelines. The rewards from the event was worth less than simply using the rewards for anything but stamina... especially since I had to burn 5 rewards to help finish the fight.

I feel that the stamina drain should be balanced around the max of 6, since that is how much stamina you have naturally. Back to back drains of people for their entire stamina, or 10+ stamina at a time just feels punishing more than gameplay mechanic, especially without any reasonable counterplay to it which we have found.

Thank you so much for your response. I knew they would not be easy requests, but wanted to also get your take on them :)

3 - Captain Share - This takes 15% of the Captain wealth and gives it to the crew, evenly. Example: Lets so 15% of the Captain's wealth is 1,000 and there are 20 crew, each crewmember will receive 50 doubloons. Now, if a crewmember is very poor (and most likely low level) 50 doubloons may be more than 20% of their wealth, so they will only receive maybe 10 doubloons. It is coded like this so players will not level up too quickly since there are only 30 levels in each Season.
Captain Bonus - This is a very small percentage (less than 1%) which is given to the crew. Because the economy of the game is based on percentages, the amount varies between players. i.e. A player with 1,000,000 doubloons will only receive 10,000 doubloons

This is the thing I am finding confusing, because when it says the capn shared 300b doubloons, but the next highest person only gets .001b doubloons, there is no way the math is correct.

Take this example situation:
Code: [Select]

It just is being deleted.... 20% of 231t is 46t so there should be no reason they are getting diminished return... but everyone gains nothing instead.
The same exact thing is happening with the capn crew bonus as well.

1 - This is difficult to do as the Captaincy can change every few minutes to every few minutes. Additionally, because of what PiratesIRC is coded in, Captain checks can cause additional load to the bot as it has to lookup everyone's wealth and then sort it.

This last idea is something that may be rather difficult to impliment, but would be a huge QOL improvement to the game:
Scaling events based on the number of people joining, instead of requiring a set amount.
For example, crew clean can occur, and if only one person does the job, you have horrible odds and it takes longer. The more people that join, the higher the odds to get the best outcome.
The same thing could apply to ship defense, and other events such as monsters. Have the event active for a period, and as many people that want to participate can join. Then after the time elapses, based on how many people joined, it weights the outcome.
This helps both ships with either large/small crews.
In ships with large active crew, you often miss out on events because it will only reward the fastest 2/3 people. Then inversely, on small crew ships it's difficult to even get 2-3 people online at the same time consistently.
I think this idea would really help to ensure that players can still engage with the content, whether they are alone, or in a large group of players.
This enforces the idea that if I log in, I can engage in the game.

Unfortunately, this game has been limited by the past abuses of others. Because I do not have a way to see if players are using clones to play and make events easier, I have to rely on IRCops and IRC server rules to catch them. Example: If a ship is full of clones with only a couple real players, they could sink every other ship with ease as they sail around, complete treasure hunts, map monsters, etc. This has made me code things to have a minimum number of players for such things as Crew Commands and Ship Fires. With the recent addition of skill checks, I hope to reduce these minimum requirements.
Each ship has a requirement of at least 10-15 players (new ships 20), otherwise they will not start a new Season. This is because the game is more fun with additional players which you can develop relationships and compete against to become Captain. If you are on a ship with a large crew, feel free to jump ship and join another as there are always ships lookin' for experienced seaman  ;D

I have been really having a great time in this world you have created! I love the depth behind a lot of what is going on! Very fun to discover new things and see what happens.

Some things I feel could be added to improve a few mechanics:

  • A way to recover stamina when fighting zonbi during an explore, they take all your stamina at such a fast rate (or maybe tune down the stamina drains/chain stuns)
  • Double check if Capn Share and Capn Crew Bonus are working properly. They do not seem to give anywhere near the amount thats stated, and capn share seems to just delete your wealth.
